The Queen of all extravagant box sets, this Alien collection sits a head and shoulders above all the others, not just because of how terrifyingly awesome it is to have a Xenomorph head sitting on your shelf, just waiting for you to take it easy, but because you actually have to lift up the transparent part of its bonce to get to the discs inside. Yuck. The collection itself is a real doozy too, collecting all four original Alien films on Blu-ray over nine discs including special features and 'making of' documentaries. Whether you'll pluck up the courage to actually pick the discs up is a whole other matter, mind. There is another Alien Blu-ray collection on the market, of course: an oversized egg with a Xenomorph crawling over it, erm, affectionately, along with a box set containing the discs. There is space in the base plate for the discs themselves, but the packaging is easily pipped by the grotesque wonder of being able to lobotomise your very own Alien.
