10 Greatest Christmas Movie Villains Ever

6. Myron Larabee (Jingle All The Way)

Home Alone Wet Bandits
20th Century Fox

If you need proof that anything’s possible at Christmas, consider this: in Jingle All The Way, we’re led to believe that Arnold Schwarzenegger would make a believable mattress salesman. This much maligned film should be reevaluated as a Christmas classic, with Sinbad’s Myron Larabee one of the most understandable villains in festive cinema.

All he wants is to buy his son a Turbo-Man action figure for Christmas. What’s so heinous about that? Well, the problem is that Schwarzenegger has very much the same ambition, and this is one mattress salesman you don’t want to tangle with. Jingle All The Way is tripe, but it’s fun holiday tripe, with Sinbad’s manic mannerisms complimenting Schwarzenegger’s low energy approach to acting.

Everyone’s been through a nightmare last minute shopping experience, and while most of us wouldn’t resort to hanging from a Christmas decoration 10 storeys off the ground dressed as a supervillain, well, perhaps we’re not cut out for parenthood like Myron is.

While Myron is the villain of the piece, the film sympathises with him at the end - recognising that he was only looking out for his kid, Schwarzenegger’s boy ends up relinquishing the much-desired Turbo-Man. When it comes to Christmas, you get out what you put in.
