5. UP (2009): Ellie's Death Scene
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F2bk_9T482g Despite this death scene perhaps being Disney's most human and realistic death, the reason it isn't higher up on this list is that though it is unarguably powerful, Ellie lived a long and mostly happy life with her husband Carl, and for those reasons we should be happy. Unlike the deaths to come on this list, Ellie had a long life and was loved with all of Carl's heart. This death scene however is tragic for many different reasons. The fist being is the knowledge that as Ellie, although lived a happy life, was never able to have children as much as she really really wanted them. The next is that Ellie never got to live her dream of being an adventure and living in Paradise Falls with her husband. But the main reason this death scene is so tragic is that Ellie's death completely shatters Carl's heart and leaves him a bitter angry old man as apposed to the life loving Carl we saw at the beginning of this montage. Though this Pixar film is actually one of my least favorite, this particular scene is extraordinary and represents a death that most of us will have to experience one way or another over the course of our lives... either losing a family member in a similar way or dieing ourselves in a similar way also. Films made by Disney/Pixar have always been much more human than films made only by Disney and this scene, and the Pixar scene still yet to feature on this list proves this point perfectly.
