10 Greatest Ever MMA Films

6. The Philly Kid

Another film featuring Michael Jai White, only not in the lead role this time around. The Philly Kid is the story of wrongly-convicted ex-con Dillion, a.k.a. The Philly Kid, played by Wes Chatham. After being paroled, he winds up getting into cage fighting to help out a friend in trouble with loan sharks. As cliche as the plot sounds, the movie has actually gotten some favourable reviews, including one by noted MMA site Bloody Elbow, who actually claimed the film was pretty good. And at least the fighting is in the cage, and not some parking lot or back yard. The lesson that The Philly Kid teaches you, outside of the story, is that not every low budget MMA flick deserves a bad rep (even if, honestly, a lot do). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqZMKHUzbdQ
