7. Anchorman
And back to the comedy. Life is serious enough, so arguably Will Ferrell's most quotable film deserves a spot on this list for being triumphantly funny and fresh in a sub-genre where combative news anchors go blow-for-blow with scowls practically all the time. Sometimes, you need to have a pants party to keep you from getting mad as hell and not being able to take it anymore. And Anchorman features Ferrell, Rudd, Carell, and Applegate at their oblivious best. Because a movie that showcases Jack Black punting a dog, Steve Carell riding a bear, and Ben Stiller as a Mexican deserves a spot on a list that includes John Travolta as a large woman and Alan Rickman as an enraged thespian with alien prosthetics. And while we all recover from that sentence, here's one of the highlights that your friends pestered you with after seeing the movie for the first time. http://youtu.be/O-YZqH0vX_o

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
