Had the first Terrifier movie come out this decade, Art the Clown would be at the very top of this list.

Taking a more human approach to the idea of a killer clown, Art is one of the most brutal, sadistic, out-and-out evil characters the horror genre has seen in a long time.

In the first film, he saws a woman in half, wears a different woman's severed scalp as a hat, and rubs his own poo all over the walls. Yeah, you can see why so many people are frightened by clowns.

Terrifier 2, the sequel that came out in 2022, produced more of this gristly violence. Only somehow, they made it worse!

In this one, Art... well, it's hard to put into words exactly what he does. If you're really that interested, see it for yourself. Bring a barf bag.

In terms of purely visceral, disgusting, demented horror, you can't ask for much better (or should that be worse) than Art the Clown. There's very little nuance to his character; he is a killing machine pure and simple, one who revels in the bloodbaths he creates.
