10 Greatest Uses Of Music In Quentin Tarantino Films

2. Little Green Bag €“ George Baker Selection €“ Reservoir Dogs

ReservoirDogs Its hard to say what difference it would have made had Tarantino not chosen the song Little Green Bag to effectively introduce himself to the world, perhaps it would have made no difference at all, but that is the song he chose. After learning, amongst other things, that Madonna€™s Like a Virgin isn€™t about what you think its about and Mr Pink doesn€™t tip, DJ K-Billy back announces the last few tracks, the screen fades to black before those immortal world, €œa film by Quentin Tarantino€ appear, the film world was about to change. No stranger to creating iconic moments, the opening credits of Reservoir Dogs would make Tarantino€™s €œiconic moments highlight reel€ (which is definitely a real thing). In slow motion and adorned in the now infamous black suits and sunglasses, the gang enters from the right to the tune of Little Green Bag. Continuing the slow motion, Tarantino shoots each of the cast from the front as the relevant actor€™s names appear. As they walk away from the camera the film title appears before the remainder of the opening credits roll, and that€™s it. Simple. Iconic perhaps more for its imagery than construction, but iconic nonetheless. At the time it was fresh, Tarantino had arrived, opinions were about to be made, LOTS of opinions. Today€™s fanboys didn€™t even know it yet. Regularly parodied, endlessly copied but seldom bettered, and all to a song from 1969 by a couple of Dutch guys that didn€™t even make the top 20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLZ5AVHfnCs
