2. Little Green Bag George Baker Selection Reservoir Dogs
Its hard to say what difference it would have made had Tarantino not chosen the song Little Green Bag to effectively introduce himself to the world, perhaps it would have made no difference at all, but that is the song he chose. After learning, amongst other things, that Madonnas Like a Virgin isnt about what you think its about and Mr Pink doesnt tip, DJ K-Billy back announces the last few tracks, the screen fades to black before those immortal world, a film by Quentin Tarantino appear, the film world was about to change. No stranger to creating iconic moments, the opening credits of Reservoir Dogs would make Tarantinos iconic moments highlight reel (which is definitely a real thing). In slow motion and adorned in the now infamous black suits and sunglasses, the gang enters from the right to the tune of Little Green Bag. Continuing the slow motion, Tarantino shoots each of the cast from the front as the relevant actors names appear. As they walk away from the camera the film title appears before the remainder of the opening credits roll, and thats it. Simple. Iconic perhaps more for its imagery than construction, but iconic nonetheless. At the time it was fresh, Tarantino had arrived, opinions were about to be made, LOTS of opinions. Todays fanboys didnt even know it yet. Regularly parodied, endlessly copied but seldom bettered, and all to a song from 1969 by a couple of Dutch guys that didnt even make the top 20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLZ5AVHfnCs
