6. Wayne's World
Alright, nobody expected Wayne's World to have a depressing ending or anything, but nobody probably expected this hilarious meta-narrative twist, in which Wayne (Mike Myers) and Garth (Dana Carvey) exert creative control of their future by experimenting with three different endings. The first is the ultra-downer ending, in which Cassandra doesn't get her record deal, Wayne's ex-girlfriend Stacey is pregnant, and Wayne and Garth's house burns down. They then opt for the Scooby Doo ending (complete with a rubber face-mask), before landing on the mega-happy Disney-style ending, in which Cassandra gets a huge record deal and stays with Wayne, while Benjamin (Rob Lowe) realises that success won't get him everything and Garth gets his dream woman. A middle of the road happy ending would have sufficed, but this hilarious ending comes out of nowhere and results in a pretty great gag, to be fair.
