9. Supercop (1992, Hong Kong)
This movie is one of the reasons Jackie Chan is an international movie star. It is also one of Quinten Taratino's favourite action movies. Supercop, is the third installment in the Police Story series which all star Jackie Chan. Ka-Kui aka Kevin (Chan) teams up with the military police director of Interpol, Jessica (Michelle Yoeh) to bring down a drug lord. In order to do so Ka-Kui must go undercover. From that simple premise comes some of the best action scenes in Jackie Chan's career (hell, for action movies even). The movie also stars Michelle Yoeh and like her male counterpart, she is badass. She has one of the best stunts in the movie, which is her riding a dirt bike on to a moving train. It's simply insane. What is even better is in the outtakes where she doesn't land the jump. With the stars doing their own stunts, with no nets, no wires and no computer graphics, Supercop set the standard for many of the other movies on this list. Because there are no wires, the stunts aren't clean or slick, in fact they barely hit their marks in some cases, adding an edge to the movie. You know the actors survived making the movie, the question is "how did they survive?" Seriously, people are killed every day doing simpler, safer things. While there is violence, the gore and the body count is quite minimal and it's actually kind of funny. Making it one of best foreign films you can show to kids.
