10 Hardest-To-Watch Movie Scenes

9. Se7en - Sloth Lives

David Fincher's Se7en is the brutal tale of a serial killer playing out his modus operandi in the form of the seven deadly sins. Hunted by the classic pairing of a hot-shot young detective (Brad Pitt) and his wise, experienced partner (Morgan Freeman), it's a game of cat and mouse with devastating consequences.

But it's not Pitt's pitiful cries of "What's in the box!?" that are truly quantifiable for Se7en's top WTF moment. No, it's the early discovery of Victor, a child molester subjected to the punishment of sloth by our charismatic killer John Doe (Kevin Spacey). Strapped to the bed for a year to the day, the decomposing body of Victor is an ugly sight to witness, basically a skeleton covered in sores. It's quite the surprise, then, when he suddenly jolts from his bed after inspection from a police officer, revealing for the past 365 days he has actually been alive whilst physically rotting away in the room.

Going to extreme lengths to keep the man alive, it's not only a jump scare, but a horrifying realisation for the audience as we come to understand what he's been subjected to. Afterwards, when wanting an interrogation, the investigators are told that he's chewed off his tongue and that "his brain is mush" from the ordeal. Horrid.
