10 Haunting Movies That F*ck With Your Mind

1. Eraserhead (1977)

Eraserhead is properly weird and strange and absurd - more so than any of the other movies included on this list, even. It's hard to imagine another horror movie with the power to unnerve and creep out in the same capacity as this one, because David Lynch's surreal debut feature film is the kind of cinematic experience in which a number of nightmarish images are burned into your eyes, and there's no way that anything you do will allow you to forget about what you've seen. Seriously: have you ever seen a chicken gushing blood all over the kitchen table? No? The premise itself is weird as hell: a man named Henry Spencer (played by Jack Nance) must care for a deformed child in an industrial future to end all industrial futures. Shot in black in white, with a remarkable soundscape to boot, Eraserhead creates an atmosphere or pure dread from beginning to end. Not to forget the "Lady in the Radiator," of course. It's a truly original film; a work of unbridled uniqueness. When people say "there's nothing else like it" about a movie or a work of creativity, it doesn't always ring true. Eraserhead is the exception to that rule - there really isn't another movie quite like this one anywhere. Like this article? Got any others to add?
