10 Heroic Movie Characters Who Actually Didn't Affect The Plot
9. Kick-!*$%
Kick-!*$% is presented as the underdog tale of a teenager motivated by an inherent goodness/desire to get laid, who takes on a mob empire despite almost inevitable death, and triumphs. Except he totally doesn't - all he does is ensure that something that was definitely going to happen anyway happens later and at a greater cost, by interfering. Had Kick-!*$% not existed, Big Daddy and Hit Girl would have taken down the D'Amico family without too much innocent blood spilled, since they were already well on the road to sorting out that particular problem before he got in the way and made himself and them walking targets.
All Kick-!*$% managed to ensure is that Big Daddy, the committed and competent hero that the city actually needs, is killed. Sure, had he not, Red Mist might not have developed the way he did as a supervillain, but had he been spared in Big Daddy's D'Amico cull (and he presumably would, given that he was an innocent party thanks to his father's reluctance to blood him in the business) he probably would have probably become a vengeance-fuelled villain anyway.
Everything would literally have played out exactly the same way, except a teenage boy wouldn't have had to pay thousands to the US medical system, and he probably wouldn't have got laid. The crime rate would have been lessened - even the one crime he does stop, the beating of the random guy that builds his brand on YouTube would have been equaled out by his own savage !*$%-kicking not happening - and the crime fighting father and daughter team would have stopped more crime than his interference allowed.
