10 Hidden Comedy Horror Movie Gems You Need To Watch

7. The Voices

Therapy For A Vampire
Lionsgate

The Voices follows schizophrenic Jerry (Ryan Reynolds) who's desperate for love. Tired of having hallucinatory discussions with his cat and dog, Jerry tries to seduce his co-worker, Fiona (Gemma Arterton).

After he accidentally leaves Fiona mortally wounded, Jerry kills her and bring her dismembered remains back to his apartment. As his mental illness intensifies, Fiona's decapitated head starts speaking to him, urging him to kill again.

Even though most horror-comedies focus more on the ha-ha side, The Voices delves into the opposite direction. Although it's funny to watch Jerry chatting with his Scottish kitty or flirting with Fiona's bodiless noggin, these jaunty moments make it more shocking when things take a dark turn.

As it becomes increasingly obvious how mentally disturbed Jerry is, it's hard to tell whether viewers should be tittering or gasping in horror. Yes, there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, but there are just as many limb-tearing, intestine-pulling, and corpse-rotting scenes that are on par with the most disturbing horror flicks.

The Voices is a clever, subversive horror-comedy that's deserves a look, but it's definitely not for the faint of hearted.
