For its first 15 minutes, you'd be forgiven for thinking 1980's Dressed to Kill was a porn feature. There's a ridiculous amount of skin, plentiful sexual tension, and a whole lot of knowing looks and come-to-bed eyes.

Once this Brian De Palma picture moves away from the glistening naked bodies, though, it finally begins to venture into full slasher territory.

The raunchy opening of Dressed to Kill is done to establish how unhappy Angie Dickinson's Kate Miller is with her sex life. Unfulfilled, Kate flirts with a man at the local art museum before going back to his place to get it on. Post-deed, a unknown blonde woman slashes Dickinson's character to death as she enters a lift.

Unfortunately for call girl Liz (Nancy Allen), she's in the wrong place at the wrong time, as she finds herself on the other side of the elevator door as it opens. Getting a glimpse at the killer, Liz makes herself this murderer's next target, while she's also made the prime suspect in Kate's murder.

From there, Liz teams with Kate's inventor son Peter as they look to solve this murder and survive joining Kate in the ground.

The initial response to Dressed to Kill was a strange one, with the film receiving praise in some quarters while also being nominated at the first ever Golden Raspberry Awards.
