10 Hidden Horror Movie Gems From 2020s (So Far)
3. Lucky
Sticking with Brea Grant for a moment, as well as impressing in a supporting role in The Stylist, the Texan has also wowed in Lucky in recent years.
Arriving in 2021, Grant not only starred in Lucky, but she also wrote this Natasha Kermani-helmed film, which implements the same sort of Groundhog Dog-style seen in Happy Death Day - only without the humour of those HDD features.
With Grant playing self-help author May, her character finds herself stalked by a masked man every single night. Even when May kills this eerie figure, he returns the very next night to again torment her in an inescapable circle of trauma.
Clearly, Lucky has an overarching message pertaining to the physical and mental abuse some women find themselves experiencing at the hands of men. And with the bulk of the heavy lifting here on her shoulders, Brea Grant is fantastic in one of the most underappreciated films in recent memory.
There are some magnificent performances featured across this list, but few can match the powerful performance put in by Brea Grant in Lucky.
