Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson confirmed what eagle-eyed fans already suspected in his commentary track for the Blu-ray release - the Ant-Man connection.
During that mind-boggling scene where Benedict Cumberbatch is hurtling through the multiverse, the shrinking superhero's Quantum Realm can be glimpsed. It's that dimension made up of diamonds that appears for like a second.
Derrickson says...
“This image here is obviously a nod to Ant-Man and the Quantum Realm, acknowledging that as one of the mysterious realms of existence.”
The director, whose previous credits include Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, also admitted the freaky sequence with the tiny hands was his horror roots showing.
