10 Hidden Movies Secrets From Director's Commentaries

4. True Romance Is Tarantino's Most Personal Film

Quentin Tarantino is one of the most knowledgeable and passionate figures in the industry, so hearing him waxing lyrical about one of his projects is an absolute hoot.

Tarantino has never provided commentary for a film he directed, so the closest thing we have is his audio accompaniment to True Romance, which he wrote for Tony Scott to helm.

During the commentary, which he delivers with sheer gusto, the acclaimed filmmaker makes a surprising admission - this was the most personal screenplay he ever wrote, which begs the question of why he didn't direct it himself.

According to Tarantino, there is more of himself in True Romance than any of the films he personally helmed, and he would have sold the script for the lowest possible amount to prove his ability as a serious writer.

It's a candid admission from one of the industry's finest, and just one of many in this must-hear audio track.
