10 Highest Ever Grossing Movies Released In May - Ranked From Worst To Best
9. Spider-Man 3
Worldwide Gross: $336,530,303 Sam Raimi did the impossible when he carved out a sequel that improved upon his already great first Spider-Man movie in practically every way. With an even bigger budget, there was always going to be the fear that the CGI might overshadow the more intimate moments, but thankfully it all came together to make for one of the best superhero movies to date. Unfortunately, all of the problems that might have befallen Spider-Man 2 waited for the sequel; it's not at all hyperbolic to say that Spider-Man 3 left most comic book fans scratching their heads. Overstuffed and tonally jarring, Spider-Man 3 saw Raimi - at the request of the studio - trying to incorporate three villains into one movie. As Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker faced off against Topher Grace's ill-judged version of Venom, he was also forced to battle both the Sandman (Thomas Hayden Church) and old buddy Harry Osborn (James Franco) at the same time. The movie emerged as something of a mess as a result, and it didn't help that Raimi turned Spider-Man into an emo with a black fringe and mad jazz moves. Not terrible; not that great either.
