10 Highly Anticipated Movies That Just Aren't Happening

1. The Coen Brother's Hail Caesar/Jesus Quintana/Old Fink/To The White Sea

Coen BrothersDescriptions: Hail Caesar is the final installment of The Idiots Trilogy, which would showcase typical Coen Brothers screwballs putting on a production of Julius Caesar. Jesus Quintana a spin off no one will mess with, using that very character of Big Lebowski fame. Old Fink is the long gestating sequel to Barton Fink, revisiting our protagonist in his later years. And last, but not least, To The White Sea is a Brad Pitt vehicle based on a novel about an American behind enemy lines in Tokyo, during the last days of World War II. Why They Aren't Happening: It seems like a combination of Kevin Smith's workload with Quentin Tarantino's penchant for naming projects and just never following up, and just a dash of good old financing problems and false speculation. Old Fink seems to have the best odds to actually end up being a movie, as that film's delay was attributed to letting John Turturro age naturally. Hail Caesar never really got past the announcement stage, though George Clooney was said to be starring front and center. To The White Sea, which would have starred Brad Pitt, never found proper financial footing. Finally Jesus Quintana is just one big rumor that got started when John Turturro stated interest in revisiting that character as well. (Which is kinda like the time Tara Reid said there'd be a Big Lebowski II.) The Last Word?: Hail Caesar and Jesus Quintana are just vapors of a shadow of a fragment of our imaginations, so they're eliminated by default. To The White Sea was killed by the Coens in January 2011, as they cited the same story about monetary problems that's always been the case. Old Fink was also swiftly dismissed about a month later when it was labeled as a more of an experiment than a film. Also, John Turturro's genetics are working against their vision for an old, decrepit Fink. If You Really Want To See Them..: ...then there really isn't anything I can do to help you with that. The Coen's will continue putting their A-Game out there, but ultimately it doesn't look like any of these projects are for this world. And there you have it, What Culture Republic. These are the films you're probably never going to see, unless you swede them yourself. With that in mind, what dead/long promised projects do you think will join these ranks?
