10 Highly Questionable Actions Committed By George Lucas
1. Re-Editing Of The Original Star Wars Trilogy
Lets face it: Star Wars Episodes IV-VI rank as one of the most beloved trio of films in movie history. These films have changed the lives of many people throughout several decades and has spread throughout the culture in a huge way. Star Wars is something that has been used to connect people together, from father to son, mother to daughter, lover to lover (look up Star Wars wedding just to get an idea of this). Naturally, when someone toys with these films, it is going to cause outrage by those who hold them dearly to their hearts...and it hurts even more when this tampering is performed by the creator.
Over the years, George Lucas has revisited the original Star Wars trilogy (and to some extend, the new trilogy) and changed dozens of different things. Some of them are small (such as brightening the color of the sun in a shot) while others have completely changed the way we view a particular character (see #3 on this list). Most people agree, however, that these changes are trivial and unnecessary. I would go as far as to say that many are distracting, especially when it comes to the new CGI that has been placed in the older films. Im not sure if he is just bored at this time in his life or if he needs to excuses to justify special edition releases (or both) but its something that seems like it will never end. Even in the blu-ray release of all 6 Star Wars films less than 2 years ago, a handful of things were changed that did nothing to better the films.
Its a shame because when it comes to the legacy that George Lucas leaves behind, many fans may remember him more for ruining the pure Star Wars experience instead of letting the movies shine brightly in their original forms.
