10 Highly Questionable Actions Committed By George Lucas
10. Making A Sequel To American Graffiti
The first American Graffiti is somewhat of an American classic. It was highly entertaining, relatable and above all else, seemed very honest with the emotions it portrayed. The film still holds up to this day and was the first big success for George Lucas, bringing in over $115 million at the box office. It made a star out of Ron Howard and Candy Clark, plus featured Harrison Ford and Richard Dreyfuss in early roles before they hit it big. But did you know that there was a sequel to American Graffiti?
The unpleasant truth is that there IS indeed another movie. More American Graffiti was an unnecessary sequel executive produced by George Lucas as an attempt to cash in on the originals success (what, you thought unnecessary sequels were a modern trend?). American Graffiti was a great film that stood on its own and managed to capture lightning in a bottle; more American Graffiti is a sloppy, boring, nearly unwatchable imitation that has thankfully been all but forgotten in the history of cinema. The fact that it only made a mere fraction ($8 million) of the originals box office gross ensured that a third film would never, ever be made.
