Christian Bale piled on 50 pounds and shaved a part of his head to convincingly obtain an over-the-top comb over. And Bradley Cooper spent 3 hours a day in a hair and make-up chair to perfect the fine curls that made for his distinctive character’s hair style.

They also put the same level of dedication into chasing a good laugh, too.

In a scene that was taking place in a Boston graveyard, requiring Bale, Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence (who had previously stated her fear of shooting in a cemetery) her co-stars went as far as having a gravestone with her name and ‘Born August 15, 1890. Died April 1 1913’ engraved on it.

J-Law understandably freaked out and was no doubt inconsolable for the rest of that shooting day. Working on an Academy Award baiting film is pressure enough without having your co-stars tormenting you in a situation you already feel vulnerable in.
