10 Hilarious Horror Films That Weren't Supposed To Be Funny

1. House Of The Dead

To give Dr Uwe Boll his due, he throws everything from hook-handed sailors to Sixteenth Century flashbacks into House Of The Dead, which really is some sort of classic. If you approach it with expectations of a ‘real’ movie, you’ll be disappointed, but if you enjoy hollering at bad films you’ll be in seventh heaven.

From the clunky voice over (“So many dead bodies…it all started a few days ago…”) to the female cast members that lose their clothes around water, House Of The Dead is spectacularly low-grade in all departments.

Thank goodness Clint Howard is around for credibility, playing a sailor who’s unfazed by a topless blonde wandering about his vessel. He just has a problem taking his passengers to Isla Del Morte because “that’s ‘Death Island’ in case you don’t speak Mexican."

Needless to say, “Death Island” turns out to live up to its name, but even after the living dead show up, everyone stands around discussing the merits of Scooby Doo and George Romero’s “holy trilogy.” When it comes to lowest common denominator thrills liberally sprinkled with guffaws, Boll’s your man and House Of The Dead is his best effort in that regard. In a perfect world, all “bad” movies would be this good.
