6. Street Fighter (1994)

Though the third big video game adaptation didn't want for star power, with the likes of Jean-Claude Van Damme and, incredulously, Kylie Minogue, it's a particularly depressing entry because it was the final bit of work that Raul Julia (
The Addams Family) ever got to perform, dying shortly after filming completed. Still, he seems to be just about the only person aware of what they were making, for his gleefully hammy, over-the-top performance as the villainous M. Bison is one of the few delightful elements in this stonkingly bad interpretation of the beloved beat-em'-up series. The filmmakers shoehorn in enough characters from the game that it appears as though they're making a cursory effort to please the hardcore fans - even if the Blanka hair/make-up job is beyond embarrassing - but this is at the expense of the basic tenets of a script, like character development and a narrative arc. Though it's acceptable as a guilty pleasure to a point - mainly thanks to Julia's knowing work - it's largely filled with naff fight scenes and cringe-inducing dialogue that not even early-90s video games themselves would let pass muster.
