10 Hilariously Unthreatening Movie Villains

4. Venom - Spider-Man 3

Fans were initially stoked to learn that Venom was set to appear in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3. However, this addition was strictly by studio demand, and at the director's reluctance... and it showed, when the film was released in 2007.

Re-imagining the bulky weightlifter Eddie Brock as... uh, Topher Grace, Raimi proceeded to completely waste the iconic villain by not having him properly turn up until the very last act.

And then, when he did show up, the film promptly killed him off. Even if Venom had survived, though, there's little could have been done about Grace's performance as Eddie Brock; a slimy, dull little character introduced too late in the game for audiences to care about, and no real threat to Peter or Spidey.

Audiences got a more comic book accurate Venom in 2018 and, with it, a reasonable Eddie Brock in Tom Hardy. With or without the symbiote, we wouldn't fancy poor Tobey Maguire's chances.
