10 Hollywood Stars You Didn't Know Began Their Career In Soap Operas
9. Tommy Lee Jones
Like Morgan Freeman, Tommy Lee Jones is one of those regular fixtures of Hollywood movies who has always seemed to be rather old - it's hard to recall any film you've seen him in when he appears fresh faced and youthful. This probably has a lot to do with the fact that, by the time he started landing parts in big movies, the actor was already approaching his 50s, with roles in The Fugitive, Natural Born Killers and Men In Black catapulting him into the spotlight. Yet his acting career goes back to his youth, and in the early 1970s Jones was a regular fixture on the popular soap One Life To Live. Jones played Dr. Mark Toland, a suave bachelor who, in the words of Jones himself, would morph into an "A-one nutboy" before his on-screen death in 1975. Jones's chemistry with his co-star Lee Warwick was so intense that producers made him the lead of the show - it was a move which no doubt kickstarted his move towards the big time.
