10 Home Invasion Movies Where The Invader Is The Victim
1. Don't Breathe (2016)
Despite what the superfans of the wildly uneven and achingly overhyped original Evil Dead films may say (don't @ me), Fede Álvarez is a modern master of horror, not only breathing life into Sam Raimi's presumed-dead series back in 2013, but following it up with unconventional home invasion horror Don't Breathe, which takes everything we know about the genre and flips it sideways.
Jane Levy's Rocky and her crew of hoods break into old, blind veteran Norman Nordstrom's (Stephen Lang) house thinking it will be a breeze to walk away with the cash he received following the death of his child. Now, if it sounds like this gang needs a good seeing-to, you won't be left waiting long, as they are soon trapped inside the house with a cold-blooded killer (Norman).
Turning out the lights and locking the house down, Norman goes to war on his invaders with an arsenal of muscle, might, guns and a Rottweiler. Despite not being able to see, Norman has kept his combat skills, hearing and general health honed to the point where he can move around the house fluidly, silently and with deadly force. Rocky may get away in the end, but the rest of the crew aren't so lucky, and though feelings may be mixed on whether justice has been done - especially after we find out what Norman keeps in his basement - it's hard not to root against the victims.
