The film is infamous for its explicit and completely unerotic sex scenes and for containing one of the worst screen performances of all time from its leading actress. The sex scenes in the movie are weird, uncomfortable and even out of place in a trashy B-movie such as this. The most notable and horrifying sex scene in the movie is a long, drawn out one that feels like it's never going to end as the popstar teases and tortures the poor fella. The centrepiece of the sex scene is the use of hot, dripping candle wax, not an object that immediately comes to mind when thinking erotic. The scene is about as convincing as a Conservative party broadcast as Dafoe looks petrified and Madonna confused as her attempts to appear sensual are more scarring than alluring. After the candle wax foreplay is over, the film switches to a voyeuristic feel which makes the whole thing even worse in what is probably the worst sex scene of all time that features genuine stars.
