Girl on the Third Floor is an unusually visceral and disgusting haunted house movie.

Don (Phil “CM Punk” Brooks) arrives at his new house in advance of his pregnant wife’s arrival; he’s set himself the task of renovating the house himself, hoping to save some money for their new baby.

However, Don discovers from a local bartender that his new house has a dubious history, and several previous residents have been driven mad.

While repairing and decorating said house, Don notices slime dripping from the walls, and as hard as he tries to get rid of it, it always comes back. It slowly dawns on Don that the house is quite literally a living organism, and when he knocks down walls or ceilings the house spills gore, blood, and other bodily fluids in shocking volumes.

And that's before the ghosts even turn up.

One ghost, named "The Nymph" is particularly distressing. As if the strange mewling noises she makes weren't bad enough, part of her face is missing, revealing the grey, decaying flesh within.

The film is a brilliant debut effort from director Travis Stevens, and also features a wonderfully unhinged performance from a nutty CM Punk who seems to be channelling Ash Williams of Evil Dead fame during certain scenes.
