10 Horror Characters We ALL Foolishly Thought Had Got Away

3. Helen - I Know What You Did Last Summer

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre The Beginning
Columbia Pictures

This particular death has been bothering audiences for years, as if it weren’t for one stupid decision then Helen would’ve absolutey been in the clear.

After being pursued by the movie’s killer through a closed department store, she eventually makes it out onto the street. She finds herself in a dark alleyway with the road within sight, on which a bustling parade is taking place.

When running from a killer, it’s generally good advice to not look back and just run as fast as possible into a well-populated area. On seeing the road, we all took a sigh of relief and thanked our lucky stars that Helen was just meters from safety. That is, until she decided to take an extended break from running before making it out onto the street.

Our faith in her was misplaced, and after pausing for what feels like an age the killer finally catches up with Helen. With the noise from the parade, nobody would be able to hear her scream. She’s grabbed and slashed to bits behind some alley junk as the happy parade-goers pass by in blissful ignorance. There’s no reason she shouldn’t have survived, so we can’t blame ourselves for not expecting this one.
