10 Horror Movie Actors Who HATED Their Own Performances

2. Heather Donahue - The Blair Witch Project

The case of The Blair Witch Project's Heather Donahue is a rather unique one when compared to the rest of the entries on this list.

While Heather enjoyed making The Blair Witch Project and is proud of the job that all involved did, it's the fallout from her performance that troubled the actress.

Speaking to GQ in 2016, Donahue revealed her performance in that revolutionary found-footage offering led to her struggling to find work.

Using her real name of Heather Donahue for her Blair Witch character, Heather revealed how some wouldn't hire her because they thought she was "that annoying bitch" from the film, while others believed The Blair Witch Project's narrative that Heather really was presumed dead.

On how her performance in Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez's iconic 1999 picture shaped her, Donahue said:

"It's a little bit like you were a cancer survivor, in a way. Maybe, like, a light, smaller skin-type cancer. And now you have the scar, and wow, wasn't that great that you've survived it and you've come through the other side? But you definitely don't want to do it again. It has informed my entire life. I don't know my life without it, you know what I mean? I don't know my own name without it."

For those not around at the time of it's release, it's hard to stress how real The Blair Witch Project was.

During the infancy of the internet, an online missing persons website was set up by Myrick and Sánchez six months prior to the movie's release - adding further legitimacy to the 'true story' events of the film's plot.
