2. Corey Cunningham - Halloween Ends

The Munsters Herman
Universal

Right up until the heat death of the universe, organisms will still be trying to figure out what the hell David Gordon Green was thinking with Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell) in Halloween Ends.

Basically, the "final" Halloween film shoves Laurie Strode and Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney) to the periphery to focus the story instead on this entirely new character.

While the idea of a traumatised town turning all of its grief and rage against Corey - a young man involved in an accident which caused the death of a local boy three years prior - has potential, it ultimately doesn't go anywhere interesting.

Instead, Corey embarks on a rushed, unconvincing romance with Laurie's granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak), gets beaten up by some band geeks, briefly dons the Michael Myers garb, and then just... dies a forgettable death at Michael's hands.

Though some dissenting fans praised Green for taking the film in a wildly unexpected direction, making the two central characters supporting players in their own franchise in favour of this relatively uninteresting guy whose arc ends up falling totally flat was... a choice alright.
