10 Horror Movie Characters That Single-Handedly Ruined Recent Movies

1. Dr. Leslie Monroe - We Have A Ghost

The Munsters Herman
Netflix

Netflix's new horror-comedy We Have A Ghost received a fair pummelling from critics and audiences alike, with the primary complaint being the film's brutally overbaked 127-minute runtime.

This thing should've been a tight 90 minutes tops, all the more so given how obnoxiously blatant the excessive material is.

Not merely content to be a Beetlejuice-esque haunted house comedy, the film comes packed with a woefully tiresome CIA subplot, as villainous horror writer Dr. Leslie Monroe (Tig Notaro) attempts to restart a CIA ghost-hunting op.

Tig Notaro's great, but her talents are aggressively wasted here on a character whose entire aura just drags the film from passably watchable into excruciatingly, even punishingly tedious.

Though Netflix's hands-off approach with their content is generally a good thing, movies like We Have A Ghost prove just how useful a headstrong producer can be, to help filmmakers make tough editorial decisions and cut their worst indulgences away.
