10 Horror Movie Characters Who Died Breaking Their Own Rules

5. Conway - Would You Rather

Would You Rather is the type of movie that leaves viewers curled in a ball, rocking themselves in shell-shocked horror. To say that this is a dark film would be the understatement of the century. The 2012 horror's appallingly gratuitous violence quite literally verges on torture porn, somewhat cheapening what is actually an electrifying watch. The movie is exactly what it says on the tin, except in this case the classic party game channels Saw.

The movie swiftly descends into an utterly morbid examination of the darkest aspects of human nature. Psychotic billionaire Shepard Lambrick concocts a twisted dinner game comprised of various people desperate for cash, and the rules are simple. Win the game, win some lucrative financial reward. Unfortunately, said game is one that would make Jigsaw wince. Highlights include simulated drowning, fireworks exploding in unprotected hands, and the slicing open of one's own retinas with a razor blade. Rather unsurprisingly, only one player can survive and win.

The late great John Heard's Conway doesn't even get close. A recovering alcoholic, Heard's character necks an entire decanter of whiskey after Lambrick offers him $50,000 to do so in the early goings, compromising his personal principle of sobriety. He attempts to leave soon after when he discovers the depraved extent of the billionaire's sick ruse, and is summarily executed with a gunshot to the head.
