10 Horror Movie Characters Who Were Perfectly Cast (The Second Time)
9. Corporal Dwayne Hicks - Michael Biehn (Aliens)
The Original
James Cameron's mesmeric sequel Aliens introduced the eventual fan favourite character of Corporal Dwayne Hicks, and for the first month of the shoot, Hicks was actually played by the great James Remar.
Second Time's The Charm
However, Remar was ultimately fired from the film after being arrested for drug possession in London, at which point he was swiftly replaced by Cameron's Terminator collaborator Michael Biehn.
The change-over was frantic enough that Biehn had to use Remar's custom Marine armour rather than get the opportunity to customise his own, and a few shots of Remar-as-Hicks do indeed remain in the final film.
But as terrific an actor as Remar is, it's simply difficult to picture him, with so many weirdos and malevolent characters under his belt, bringing the subtle vulnerability to this badass Marine that Biehn did.
Hicks' more soft-spoken temperament is in stark contrast to most of his squad-mates, and it's easy to appreciate that his relationship with Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) would be markedly different with Remar playing the part.
