2. Álex (REC)
Like The Blair Witch Project, 2007's REC did a lot of things on the fly, with the stars never being given a completed script, and the entire movie being shot chronologically, allowing the actors to discover the story as they went along.
As such, most of the deaths in REC would qualify for this list, but one of the most surprising for the actors (and the audience) occurs around 18 minutes in, when firefighter Álex falls from the stairs, and lands with a sickening thud on the ground.
Brilliantly, none of the actors in the scene were told what was about to happen, so when that dummy of Álex's body splats on the ground and everyone around him screams in terror, those reactions are as real as it gets.
