3. Killing Ghostface While They're Unconscious - Scream 2
Scream 2 is one of the greatest horror sequels of all time, and Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) undeniably one of the all-time great Final Girls, but she's certainly not unimpeachable either.
In the film, Sid and her pal Hallie (Elise Neal) get trapped in the back of a car commandeered and crashed by Ghostface.
In a nerve-shredding sequence, the duo try to crawl past an unconscious Ghostface in order to escape, yet totally ignore the obvious opportunity to either shoot the killer with the dead cop's gun or even stab them with their own knife.
Instead, they flee the car - which isn't a terrible idea - only to run back to it when Sid decides she needs to unmask the killer.
Despite Hallie vocally telling Sid it's a stupid decision, she goes back, only to find that Ghostface has escaped amid their fussing, then appearing behind Hallie and stabbing her to death.
This was an open goal to take one of the two killers out and Sid absolutely whiffed it, while getting one of her friends killed in the process. Maddening.
