10 Horror Movie Remakes Better Than You Remember

4. My Bloody Valentine 3D (2009)

My Bloody Valentine 3D is a weird anomaly when it comes to remakes.

This reimagining was lumped in with a bunch of desperate, gimmicky 3D movies that were all the rage at the time, but it is way more effective than the likes of The Final Destination, which released the same year.

This movie was built from the ground up to maximise its B-movie, eyes-popping-out-the-screen potential and it absolutely leaves nothing on the table. The gore on display is frankly outrageous, with the kills revelling in an absurd amount of blood and viscera. In an era where mainstream releases were opting for PG-13 ratings, MBV 3D almost feels like a swan song for an entire era of button-pushing slashers.

Admittedly, the story itself is your standard fare. A miner involved in an accident goes on a killing spree in a town, only for a copycat to arise years later. There's a predictable twist thrown in for good measure, but it's all delivered with a sense of confidence and flair cheaper efforts simply can't replicate.

If you're after gory, popcorn fun, you could do much worse than this.
