4. The Howling
This bad-boy is in the works with Netflix, with IT and IT 2’s Andy Muschietti sat in the director’s chair.
It was at a screening of IT Chapter 2 that Muschietti revealed his next goal was to reboot this werewolf classic, and it seems that it has come to a pretty timely fruition!
The original was directed by Joe Dante, probably best otherwise known for Gremlins, and follows the story of a journalist pretty much accidentally uncovering a colony of werewolves when she is sent to a retreat by her therapist.
There’s sex, there’s scandal, there’s moonlight transformations, all culminating in a live television broadcast of a woman transforming into a werewolf before being promptly shot dead. Audiences just weren’t ready, I guess.
After the commercial and critical success of IT and its sequel, Muschietti is in a pretty good place right now. It will definitely be interesting to see what he does with this cult classic to bring it to new audiences.
