10 Horror Movie Scenes You Remember Totally Wrong
6. Sucking Blood - Dracula
There are many performers synonymous with Bram Stoker's Dracula. Christopher Lee. Frank Langella. Gary Oldman. And of course, Leslie Nielsen.
But for many, Bela Lugosi's depiction of the Romanian count in 1931's Dracula has never been bettered. Various traits associated with the castle-dwelling vampire can be tied to the Hungarian actor's depiction, including his leering stare, his hypnotic hand gesture, and his line, "I don't drink... wine."
Then there's the fangs. We all vividly remember the defining shot of Dracula brandishing his overly pointy teeth before sinking them into his victim's neck.
This sequence has become deeply tethered to Dracula mythos, to the point where adaptations feels incomplete without it. That's why it's highly ironic how the Prince of Darkness is never seen drinking blood in the original movie. Although there are two lines referring to Dracula's victims sporting bite-marks on their necks, it's never shown.
But that's not the weirdest thing people misremember about this film. Not only does Dracula never suck anyone's blood with his fangs... he doesn't even have fangs! In every single close-up of Dracula, it's clear the undead count has a regular set of chompers.
