10 Horror Movie Sequels That Don't Fit Their Franchise

9. American Psycho 2

Freddys Revenge
Lionsgate

American Psycho 2 not only doesn't fit in with its predecessor in terms of storyline and tone, but it really doesn't fit in terms of overall quality much either. This is seriously one of the worst films ever made.

American Psycho is an almost satirical assessment of modern day consumerism, shown through the eyes of sadistic serial killer Patrick Bateman. The film revolves around Bateman's uncontrollable lust for order, perfection and a need to climb to the top by any means necessary, all of which culminates in his brutal killing spree being unleashed.

American Psycho 2 is a black comedy sequel that fails to be funny in the slightest and shares nothing with the first film, except for the title and a shoehorned in reference to Patrick here and there. The film follows Mila Kunis' Rachel Newman, a psychopath in the making who goes around killing her classmates, teachers and friends in an attempt to better understand the world of serial killers. The film is cheap, sleazy and an insult to the original film and novel.

The film wasn't initially written to have anything to do with American Psycho and, honestly, it would have been better for everyone if it had stayed that way.
