8. Lori's Angry Reaction - Happy Death Day
In Happy Death Day, a teenager called Tree is going about her day when she is stabbed to death by a masked serial killer, colloquially called Babyface.
And somehow, her life... and death... gets worse. Tree wakes up, only to realise that time has reset to the previous day. No matter what she does or where she goes, Babyface kills her again and again. Even though each day begins with her roommate, Lori, offering her a cupcake, she always discards it, desperate to find out who is hunting her.
When she convinces herself she can't accept the cycle, she gives up and finally agrees to eat Lori's cupcake. But when she dies immediately after, she realises the cupcake was poisoned, and Lori has been the masked killer all along.
Interestingly, viewers could've figured this out if they simply studied Lori's body language. Every time Tree rejects the cupcake, you'd assume Lori would be confused or concerned. But every time Tree refuses to eat it, Lori looks noticeably angry. It's one of those subtle details you miss the first time around but it becomes as clear as day on a second viewing.
