10 Horror Movie Villain Replacements Fans REJECTED

1. Roy Burns - Friday The 13th Part Five: A New Beginning

Excessive sex and drugs couldn’t mask how awful the Friday the 13th saga had become by the time the fifth movie crawled onto our screens. To top it all off, there was no Jason to make it easier to swallow. Instead, similarly with the Halloween situation of taking the series in a new direction, we got Roy Burns.

Roy’s son is killed early on in the movie and so to get revenge he decides to become an exact replica of Jason Vorhees – why exactly he dons the hockey mask and bald cap beneath it is never explained.

His kills aren’t even impressive, with many happening either off screen or shot in such a way you don’t actually see very much at all. For a saga that had previously been off the scale in terms of gore, such as in a man’s head literally being crushed between Jason’s meaty paws, this was not a good outing for Jason’s replacement.

Burns was hardly developed and was too busy pretending to be Jason Vorhees – figuratively and literally – to be seen as anything other than a cheap imitation of the famous slasher. There was just nothing about him and what very little we were given wasn’t just disappointing, but plain old rubbish.
