10 Horror Movie Villain Replacements Fans REJECTED
9. Ricky Caldwell - Silent Night, Deadly Night 2
Silent Night Deadly Night is by no means a good movie, being mostly a run of the mill holiday slasher with very little originality. But at least it was a bit exciting by having controversial posters.
However, its younger brother, quite literally in this case, is beyond terrible. Consisting mostly of flashbacks, the sequel is boring and saps any interest from the original cult classic.
Ricky Caldwell is the Santa of slaughter this time around, being the younger brother of the murderer in the original film. Played by Eric Freeman, the replacement was not so much hated but was instead met with utter bewilderment. Freeman clearly put, uh, his heart and soul into the nun-hating performance, but it came across as more comedic than terrifying.
Where do we even begin with how iconic this character is? From the strange laugh, to spanking montages, umbrella murders, to saying the word ‘naughty’ an uncomfortable amount of times and of course, ‘Garbage Day!”.
Given how much work they did on making his facial expressions look as bizarre as possible, I’d like to give a special shout out to Freeman’s eyebrows too. Ricky here would be placed higher on the list given how awful of a villain he is, even compared to his brother Billy, but the laughs he generates make up for the scares he lacks. Sort of.
