10 Horror Movie Villains Who Were Recruited For Evil
5. Damien Thorn - The Omen Franchise
Even though a character is born evil, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are aware of it.
In The Omen (1976), Robert Thorn (Gregory Peck) is devastated when his child is stillborn, yet fears that the shock will kill his wife, Katherine (Lee Remick), so he discreetly adopts a newborn boy whom they name Damien (Harvey Stephens).
Soon afterwards, Robert’s political career flourishes and he is appointed as US Ambassador to the Court of St. James. However, after a few pleasant years, Robert and Kathy are plagued by mysterious accidents, whilst Robert is warned that Damien is the antichrist: the Devil’s son.
Outwardly, Damien seems innocent enough, even though he "accidentally" places Kathy in hospital. By the time Robert comes around to the idea that Damien is the spawn of Satan, it is tragically too late for them all.
Giving an impish smile at his parents’ funeral, suggesting that he has been aware of his demonic lineage all along, Damien is still in the dark about his true purpose in Damien: Omen II (1978).
Nevertheless, when a business manager (Robert Foxworth) working for his uncle Richard Thorn (William Holden) and his military academy sergeant (Lance Henriksen) take the now-teenage boy under their wing, Damien (Jonathan Scott-Taylor) soon accepts his true place in the world.
