10 Horror Movie Villains Who Would Have Won By Doing NOTHING

All this lot had to do was put their feet up and let time take its course.

What makes a good horror movie villain?

An iconic look? A signature weapon? Gloriously gory kills? Killer theme music?

If you answered "strong planning kills", then think again! Because these famous foes all didn't need to do any planning at all to come out on top.

In some movies, a strong villain plot is essential to the overall narrative. These films all tried to offer that to audiences, but just ended up putting in a whole load of extra work in for no reason.

Basically, if these baddies had all just sat on their hands and been patient, they would have gotten what they wanted in the end. Bet they feel foolish now.

To best understand this list, it's important to define what is meant by "winning".

The most obvious definition is defeating the heroes, killing all the good guys, or not dying, but some villains have more complex goals than that.

Alternatively, a victory could just mean going on to live a happy life. Had some of these characters just paid no attention to the heroes, they could have just gotten on with things and lived happily ever after.

Did they though? Well, what do you think?

10. Adrian Griffin - The Invisible Man (2020)

Underworld Rise Of The Lycans Viktor
Universal

H. G. Wells' beloved sci-fi horror classic was originally intended to be part of Universal Pictures' Dark Universe project, until everyone realised what a terrible idea that was and the whole thing was canned.

A rebooted version of the movie finally saw the light of day in 2020, with Oliver Jackson-Cohen playing the role of the transparent terror.

Adrian Griffin fakes his own death to exact his revenge on his former partner Cecilia (Elizabeth Moss). An optics engineer by trade, Griffin builds a special suit that can turn him see-through with the flick of a switch.

The thing is, Adrian had absolutely no right to go looking for vengeance. He was the controlling one in the relationship, which forced Cecilia to drug him in order to escape.

Had he just let her leave and moved on with his life, then he wouldn't have had to go through all the hoopla of faking his own death and he wouldn't have ended up actually dead come the end of the film.

Also, he had an invisibility suit! This guy could have robbed banks, but all he does was pull a couple of pranks on his ex!

What a waste.
