Of all the horror movies released over the course of the past 10 years, none arguably qualify as slices of pure "artistry" more than that of Let the Right One In, Tomas Alfredson's beautiful, haunting and completely unparalleled vampire tale that probably stands as the best film on this list and will go down as a classic of the genre in decades to come. Quite frankly, it proved that horror could still hold the weight of other genres. Because - let's face it - horror flicks have something of a bad reputation amongst critics; they seem to attract distain wherever they go. But Let the Right One In, with its beautiful visuals, top-notch acting, intimate storyline, and moments of genuine, unbridled horror (not to mention romance) provided a showcase of what a truly great horror film could do; not in 1968, or 1976, but in 2008. Truly, this is a masterpiece of the genre.
