7. Hanako-San Will Pull You Into Her Toilet - Phantom Of The Toilet

The Red Spot Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark
Shochiku

Just when you thought you'd had it with the toilet content, I'm right back again with a girl that lives in your grot bowl. The tale of Hanako-San is much like Bloody Mary, serving as a ghost summoned in school bathrooms by young girls attempting to scare each other. Hanako-San is said to have died in a bathroom, either at the hands of an adult or by suicide - though this varies depending on how dramatic the storyteller is feeling - and can be conjured by knocking three times on the third stall of the third floor girl's toilets. She's fond of threes.

If she's there, she'll let you know, and then pull the person that disturbed her into her own watery hell at the bottom of the bog. The legend is one of the most popular in Japan for its widespread seeding through schools, and of course, through being committed to film, too.

Phantom of the Toilet (or School Mystery depending on which title you're watching, though the latter is far less exciting) was the first to do so, and spins the legend into a benevolent spirit instead of the evil toilet monster she's often known as. That's nice. Making your home in a toilet must come with enough bad PR as it is.
