10 Horror Movies Inspired By Creepy Urban Legends

Triangle is the creepy, time-distorting story of Jess and her friends as they head out on a yacht for a boat trip, only to capsize during a storm and take shelter on an abandoned ocean liner. On the giant ship, a strange time loop takes hold of Jess that results in doppelgängers, murders, and piles of decaying bodies from the previous loops she's been through; with no clear understanding of when, why, or how this is happening.

The title doesn't really help in giving anything away either - perhaps indicated as a triangle to show the three times Jess wakes up on screen, or as the beginning, middle, and end that she can't escape. That is... unless you take into account the film's setting in Miami, and realise she sails straight out into the Bermuda Triangle and into the unknown.

The Bermuda Triangle, of course, is a region between Bermuda, Florida, and Puerto Rico largely made up of ocean, where planes and ships often mysteriously disappear. There's legends of the triangle being the result of paranormal, or even extraterrestrial in nature, which explains the strange loop taking over Jess's existence, right?

There's clear symbolism for purgatory in Jess's story, but what's to say it doesn't come at the hands of a little green man pulling the strings?
