10 Horror Movies Ruined Entirely By One Scene

5. The Ghost Kids - Sinister

Sinister is one hell of a creepy movie that gets a lot right, especially with its climactic reveal that protagonist Ellison Oswalt (Ethan Hawke) inadvertently marked himself and his family for death by doing the very thing we always want folks to do in haunted house movies - leave the damn house.

It's a clever subversion of expectations, but less smart is the additional reveal that the missing children from each of Babylonian god Bughuul's (Nick King) murder scenes have become accomplices under his influence.

The whole Spooky Children trope has been grossly overdone in horror for literally decades at this point, and so seeing Ellison be terrorised by these ash-faced kids in his house is ultimately just a bit laughable.

In turn, it undoes what was otherwise such an atmospheric and unsettling horror film, turning it into a goofy farce as it approaches the finish line. And of course, let's not forget about that corny final jump scare.

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
